Why do I see a preauthorization charge from Shipt?

When you place an order through Shipt, your card will be temporarily pre-authorized for the requested order total plus a little bit extra in case you need to make any changes or add items to your order. Once your order is complete, you’ll only be charged for what was delivered, and we’ll email you a digital receipt.

If your order’s final total is lower than the pre-authorization amount, you’ll receive a refund for the difference. If your order total is greater than the pre-authorization amount, you’ll see a separate charge reflected as “Shipt Remaining Balance.” In-app tips may also show up as a separate charge and will be reflected as “Shipt Gratuity.”

If your order is canceled, the funds for the pre-authorization amount will be released back to your card. Refunds and fund releases may take up to 5-10 business days to process depending on your bank or financial institution.
